Angling Trust Partnership Development Manager James Roche has been working with Northamptonshire based fly fishing club Mid Northants Trout Fishers Association (MNFTA) for a number of years but 2017 was definitely one to remember.
The Midlands is full of fantastic fly fishing venues and MNTFA are committed to making it as easy as possible for non anglers to get into the wonderful world of fly fishing. Throughout 2017 the club have put on a variety of different events and activities to give new people the chance to try fishing including; adult learning courses in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council; free fly casting sessions at Barnwell Country Park & Kelmarsh Country Fair; and their ever-popular free monthly bank sessions at Pitsford Water with Anglian Water.
Led by their team of Licenced Angling coaches and committed volunteers, the club create the perfect environment for anyone looking to get into fly fishing, come back into the sport or brush up on their casting skills.
The club’s free monthly sessions based at the Pitsford Water Fishing Lodge run throughout the year with the next sessions taking place on Saturday 13th January and Saturday 10th February. They are a great opportunity to get some casting tuition, brush up on fly tying and to have a chat about fishing over a cuppa.
More information on the club and details on how to join can be found at www.mntfa.co.uk. It is a thriving club with membership levels increasing every year. If you fancy making 2018 the year you get into fly fishing, why not pop down to Pitsford Water this winter and have a go.
