Have you ever wanted to try fishing before?

Would you like to introduce a member of your family or a friend to fishing?

If the answer is ‘Yes’ then come along to one of these FREE one-hour long taster fishing sessions run by the charity Get Hooked on Fishing!

All sessions are free with fishing tackle provided and help from licensed angling coaches. Get Hooked on Fishing’s friendly staff, volunteers and peer-mentors will always make you really welcome.

Cost: Free

Times: Book in for an hour long session. Sessions are each hour from 11.00am through to 4.00pm but please arrive 10 minutes beforehand.
Session 1] 11.00am – 12.00pm (arrive at 10.50)
Session 2] 12.00pm – 11.00pm (arrive at 11.50)
Session 3] 1.00pm – 2.00pm (arrive at 12.50)
Session 4] 2.00pm – 3.00pm (arrive at 1.50)
Session 5] 3.00pm – 4.00pm (arrive at 2.50)

Type of Fishing: Simple coarse angling tips and skills for beginners using a “whip” rod and bait

Tackle & bait: Provided free of charge – just come along – no need to bring anything!

Rod licence: A free Environment Agency rod licence is included too for participants at this event

Perfect for: Complete newcomers and beginner anglers or those with limited experience of fishing! Parents and grandparents – just bring the kids along and have a go yourself – it doesn’t matter if you are an experienced angler yourself or a complete beginner – come and get fishing too!

What happens on the day: The angling activities on offer are designed to encourage adults, children and young people to discover what angling is all about and take up angling. You’ll find out how to use fishing tackle and bait to catch fish and return them safely.  Volunteers and staff overseeing the event will also provide you with more info about your local club or fishery so you know how and where to go fishing again next time.

Disability information: Family Fishing events are organised to best practice guidelines on working with and planning events for disabled people. Please check with the venue contact for specific details of facilities available.
