29th August 2019
This August Bank Holiday saw the Get Fishing team together with Wessex Water deliver a cracking day of fishing at the popular Durleigh Reservoir in Somerset. Dean Asplin, Angling Trust Partnership Development Manager South, was in attendance and reported back on the successful event…
Well it was another fun packed day at Durleigh Reservoir on August bank holiday Monday but this time the fish actually played ball! Having held our previous event here back in April where the fish were not so forthcoming, this event proved to be much busier on the fishing front with every single person catching fish – brilliant to see and a true reflection of this excellent venue.
The amount of people that took part was also amazing – 118 people came along to the day’s two sessions.
We received loads of great feedback after the event with everyone having enjoyed the opportunity to give fishing a go, and to have experienced catching a fish.
As a result I’m sure many of those who came along will go on to continue fishing.
To add to the smiles, at the end of the day every family went home with one of the new ‘Get Fishing’ hard back books, that we helped Merlin Unwin Press and author Allan Sefton with.
That went down really well and I’m sure it will allow everyone to learn more about how to continue their interest when they get back home with their family and friends.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Wessex Water for all their support and to Summerhayes Junior Angling Club for supplying the angling volunteers/coaches and delivering the sessions on the day.
