What's happening...

Never been fishing before? Always wanted to try? Puzzled by all the kit, what to do and where to go…? We’re providing the answers to questions like these at regular fishing sessions for complete beginners who don’t know where, how or who to go fishing with, and need tackle to get into angling.

This is the first competitive event of the season, aimed at all levels & abilities, new Anglers and improvers most welcome, theres a super friendly atmosphere, including plenty of help and support.

So, come on – Get Into Angling!

Cost: £15 – entry includes four hours fishing, a bacon butty, tea or coffee, plus prizes for the lucky winners!

Type of Fishing: Game fishing – a great opportunity to have a go at fly fishing in a relaxed, informal setting.

Perfect for: Anyone who wants to get into fishing and isn’t sure how to start. If you or someone you know is looking for the ideal introduction to an activity that will get you outdoors, teach you new skills, set a challenge and give you an activity to do with friends and family, here’s the ideal opportunity to come and get into angling!

What happens on the day:  Help will be given to encourage young people who haven’t been fishing or only have limited experience to get into angling. Licensed Level 2 Coaches will show you how to set up fishing tackle before moving on to catch fish and return them. The coach will also provide you with more information about your local fishing club and places to go. By the end of the Get Into Angling sessions you will have enough confidence and knowledge to go fishing straight away and will have met people to go with.

Tackle: All tackle and fishing equipment is provided but participants are asked to bring along sunglasses or another form of eyewear and a cap or hat. Feel free to dig out any old equipment of your own to bring along.

Disability information: Coaches licensed by the Angling Trust are provided with essential best practice guidance on working with and planning events for disabled people. Please check with the event contact for specific details of facilities available.
