Get Fishing events are fun, social & safe fishing days for family groups and individuals of all abilities.

Come and try fishing at our quality assured angling events and discover the wonders of angling! Whether you’re fishing for the first time, heading for a day out with the family, or getting back into angling, fishing is a great way to get out there doing something different and will teach the kids new outdoor skills.

Everything you need to catch your first fish or learn more about angling is provided and our friendly volunteers will make you welcome.

Cost: £75 – places are very limited.

Fishing Licence: Haven’t got a fishing licence yet? Participants aged 17 and over need a fishing licence to fish at Learn to Fish events. See the more info section on this page for details on how to purchase a licence.

Times: 9.30am – 4.30pm

Venue: Eyebrook Reservoir, Great Easton Road, Caldecott, Leicestershire LE16 8RP

Type of Fishing: Game fishing – a great opportunity to have a go at fly fishing in a relaxed, informal setting.

Perfect for: Anyone keen to learn how to fly fish. If you have thought you’d like to start going angling, but were too busy with work or family, here’s the ideal opportunity to come and get back into angling. These sessions are also well suited for anglers who want to return to fishing and try a different type of angling.

What happens on the day: The schedule is flexible but during the day we will cover the following topics:
– General approach to fishing reservoirs & smaller stillwaters
– An introduction to our quarry, entomology & its links to fly choice.
– Tackle choice.
– Assembly of rod, reel and line.
– Fly casting.
– Leader material and knots.
– Afternoon fishing session under guidance aiming to hook, play & successfully land your first trout.

Tackle: All the fishing tackle & equipment is provided. Participants are encouraged to bring along sunglasses or another form of eyewear and a cap or hat.

Disability information: Coaches licensed by the Angling Trust are provided with essential best practice guidance on working with and planning events for disabled people. Please check with the event contact for specific details of facilities available.
