What's happening...

Never been fishing before? Always wanted to try? Puzzled by all the kit, what to do and where to go…? We’re providing the answers to questions like these at “Learn to Fish” beginners fly fishing courses. By the end of the day you’ll be ready to go fishing on your own.

Run by friendly, quality assured coaches at great venues to give you the skills and confidence to get back out there and catching fish. Use of tackle, flies, lures or bait is provided free too.

So, come on – Learn to Fish!

Cost: The course includes a course booklet and light lunch and costs £88 for adults and £67 for juniors (14-17). Booking is required. Please register in advance using the contact details below.

Fishing Licence: Haven’t got a fishing licence yet? Participants aged 17 and over need a fishing licence to fish at Learn to Fish events. See the more info section on this page for details on how to purchase a licence.

Type of Fishing: Game fishing – a great opportunity to have a go at fly fishing in a relaxed, informal setting.

Perfect for: Anyone keen to learn how to fly fish. If you have thought you’d like to start going angling, but were too busy with work or family, here’s the ideal opportunity to come and get back into angling. These sessions are also well suited for anglers who want to return to fishing and try a different type of angling.

What happens on the day: Run throughout the year, an experienced, qualified instructor delivers a full day’s tuition and covers everything a beginner needs to know, including tackle, casting techniques, presentation, trout behaviour and safety.

Tackle: All the fishing tackle & equipment is provided. Participants are encouraged to bring along sunglasses or another form of eyewear and a cap or hat.

Disability information: Coaches licensed by the Angling Trust are provided with essential best practice guidance on working with and planning events for disabled people. Please check with the event contact for specific details of facilities available.

Don't Forget your rod licence... You'll need a rod licence when you go fishing - for more information, together with costs and how to purchase visit www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence or call 0344 800 5386.
