Get Fishing events and the Get Fishing Award Programme are currently postponed
Get Fishing is the Angling Trust’s campaign to get more people fishing more often. Each year we run hundreds of events for all ages and abilities but this year has been different so we’ve postponed our Get Fishing event programme during the third National Lockdown and this might go on longer while we are part of angling’s effort to #ProtectOurNHS. You can still find places, videos and news on this site.
Because fishing is good for health and wellbeing the Angling Trust has been able to get it on the Government’s list of actvities you can do for exercise during this lockdown.
You’ve still got to stick to the rules on staying local, gatherings, distancing and time spent outdoors, but at least you know angling can be an option to stay healthy.
If you want to make fishing your form of exercise, please stay safe. You should limit the time you spend outdoors and make sure you read our FAQs first – they’ve been checked and double checked so you get the right angling advice.
We’ve also got a couple of good blogs that help, with more detail on why fishing is permitted and, with a load of great tips to get the best from your fishing when time is short.
Get Fishing is the Angling Trust’s campaign to run angling events for anyone who wants to get into fishing, get back into angling or find out where to go fishing, who to go fishing with, what to use to start fishing and how to go fishing for the first time.
