Young Anglers Gain Awards at Family Fishing Days

2 August 2019

Dean Asplin, Angling Trust Partnership Development Manager saw new anglers in the making at a Family Fishing event in Combwich, Somerset…

Our recent event down in Combwich was a great success stories with a number of new anglers both young and old giving fishing a go.

38 people had a go at fishing over the two days, and it was excellent to see some repeat attendees on the second day with two families even bringing along fishing tackle they’d bought that week.

The second day was a bit quieter and allowed us to spend more time with the newcomer anglers and assess what they’d learned.

This lead to 3-year-old Ava (main picture) gaining her ‘Angling Starter’ Skills Awards Certificate.

Nine-year-old Jacob (pictured below) gained his ‘Angling Starter’ and Level 1 Skills Awards Certificate.

We’ll be aiming to do another event here in September with dates still to be confirmed.

A big thank you to the angling club for allowing us to use the lake and the volunteers that helped on the days – this support makes it all possible.
